Job summary

Tresillian Tweed is seeking an Aboriginal Health Worker to support families with early parenting needs in the Tweed region. This permanent part-time role is 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based with the Tresillian 2U Services van operating from Murwillumbah Hospital on a rotating schedule.

The AHW will assist Aboriginal children aged 0–3 and their families, coordinate referrals, and work with Child and Family Health Nurses to promote culturally safe and trauma‑informed care.

Qualifications

• This is an Aboriginal identified position; applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
• A health or social science qualification or willingness to work towards one.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal Health issues related to maternal, infant/child and family health.
• Ability to communicate and liaise with communities and health professionals to improve outcomes.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication and computer skills.
• Current Drivers Licence Class C.

• Provide support and referral services to Aboriginal children 0-3 years and families.
• Collaborate with health workers to develop plans of care and promote wellbeing.
• Co-design with Aboriginal Elders and community members to adapt programs.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes for families.
