Job summary

Brimbank City Council’s Libraries is inviting a part-time professional to join our Library team in Melbourne’s western suburbs. You will blend cataloguing duties with reader development and promotions, contributing to a vibrant public library service.

This permanent role supports community learning, delivers high-quality resources, and requires experience with MARC records and automated cataloguing systems, while working across multiple branches including Deer Park, Keilor, St Albans, Sunshine

Qualifications

• Excellent IT, online acquisitions and cataloguing skills including knowledge and experience of working in an automated cataloguing environment.
• Ability to work with budgets including; ordering to set criteria & goals, managing monthly spend
• Effective communication skills with all stakeholders; including library & council staff, community members and supply chain partners.
• Excellent attention to detail and skills in managing time, planning and prioritizing the tasks required of the position
• Ability to engagewith people from diverse backgrounds.
• An ability to multi-task and think creatively, following established documentation and processes.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with suppliers on orders, MARC records, receipts, invoices, and standing orders.
• Original cataloguing of library resources as required
• Supporting the access and use of library resources both physical and digital
• Supporting the wider library team in promoting and maintaining relevant high quality library collections
