Job summary

St Mary’s College Ipswich, operated by Brisbane Catholic Education, is seeking a compassionate Guidance Counsellor. The role supports student wellbeing, personal development and educational journeys within a close-knit Catholic school community.

The position is part-time (4 days per week) on a fixed-term 12-month contract, commencing January 2027. Eligibility includes QCT teaching registration or AHPRA psychology registration, with safeguarding commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Guidance Counsellor in an educational setting.
• Develop activities to address academic and life career development.
• Experience in psycho-educational assessments.
• Experience in safeguarding and risk management in schools.
• Strong collaboration skills and team orientation.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate wellbeing and mental health initiatives for students.
• Manage counselling services for students.
• Provide psycho-educational assessments.
• Ensure BCE protocols and quality processes are implemented.
• Maintain professional standards of practice.
