Job summary

Ripe Maternity Wear in Melbourne is seeking a Part Time Garment Technician to join our Product Development team 2–3 days a week. You will support the Senior Garment Technician to ensure every product meets our high standards for quality, fit and detail, from prototype to final shipment.

The role collaborates with designers and offshore manufacturers, creates tech packs, assists in the fit process, and contributes to improvements in garment construction and quality across the range.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience as a Garment Technician in women's fashion apparel inc. knits, wovens, denim and fully fashioned knitwear.
• Tertiary qualifications in Design, Pattern Making, and/or Grading.
• Advanced knowledge of garment construction, grading, specs, and tech packs.
• Experience with Lectra software is advantageous but not essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.
• Experience with fabric testing and quality assurance.
• Strong communication skills with both international suppliers & internal team.
• Strong organisational skills to adhere to critical path deadlines.
• A detail-oriented, dedication to excellence and a solution-driven mindset.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the senior garment tech, designer and offshore manufacturers.
• Follow design direction to create detailed technical packs for offshore suppliers.
• Assist in the garment fit process from initial prototype through to bulk production.
• Attend fit sessions, provide professional input, manage specifications, adjustments and revisions.
• Check and measure fit, pre-production and shipping samples for quality and compliance, and provide clear fit comments to suppliers at every stage from proto through to bulk.
• Partner with offshore factories on fit, pattern and workmanship, while clearly communicating quality requirements.
• Maintain productive working relationships with off-shore suppliers.
• Carry out accurate garment grading across size ranges, ensuring clear tolerances and quality benchmarks are met.
• Garment care labels and inhouse garment testing.
• Investigate product feedback on fit, manufacturing or quality.
• Use Lectra software for occassional pattern alterations and to create pattern blocks.
• Create and maintain fashion CAD illustrations, using Illustrator.
• Assist the designer where required with visual merchandising and collection handbooks, and mood boards.
• Administration including maintaining accurate product, fabric, supplier, scheduling data in the Apparel21 ERP system.
• Proactively identify and drive improvements in garment construction, fit, and overall quality.
