Job summary

Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) Cairns is recruiting a part-time Domestic & Family Violence Specialist (Persons Using Violence) to join a pilot DFV Co-Response with the Queensland Police Service. The role focuses on trauma-informed care, risk assessment, safety planning, and evidence gathering to support victim-survivors and holding perpetrators accountable.

You’ll work four days per week, with on-call requirements and penalty rates.

Qualifications

• Qualified in a Human Services related field and/or relevant DFV experience.
• Experience providing advocacy, information, referral and/or counselling to those affected by DFV.
• Sound knowledge of the DFV service response system and services.
• Understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (2012) and related legislation.
• Demonstrated understanding of DFV risk assessment with victim-survivors and users of violence.

Responsibilities

• Identify, assess, and develop comprehensive case support for DFV incidents.
• Provide trauma-informed counselling and case management to support clients.
• Collaborate with Queensland Police Service and other agencies.
• Contribute to safety planning and risk management.
• Participate in community coordinated response networks.
