Job summary

Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking a Budget Officer to support the Property and Business Development department. You will prepare, monitor and analyse budgets, provide projections for the 10-year plan and deliver clear reporting to budget owners to support sustainability.

Key duties include finance reporting, budget reviews, and financial administration for property transactions. The role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications (Cert IV or higher) in accounting, commerce or finance.
• Experience in financial management and budget procedures.
• Advanced knowledge of online financial systems and spreadsheets.
• Ability to work independently with deadlines and handle confidential information.
• Strong written and oral communication for presenting complex information.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, monitor and analyse budgets for Council’s 10-year budget.
• Deliver clear reporting to budget owners and support business sustainability.
• Complete finance reports and budget reviews; support property purchases, sales and rentals; perform reconciliations and journal adjustments.
• Analyse financial data and use spreadsheets to support budget processes.
