Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education Office is seeking a skilled Classroom Support Officer - Educational Interpreter (Auslan) at St Luke's Primary School, Capalaba. You will work 27.5 hours per week, with a start in January 2027 and a fixed-term contract for the 2027 school year.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing and monitoring student progress to identify areas for targeted intervention.
• Exposure to creating diverse teaching methods and assessments to accommodate various learning styles.
• Skilled in developing strategies to enhance student learning outcomes based on individual needs.
• Experience in collaborating with specialists to address student needs.
• Knowledge about the specific needs for First Nations and international students including cultural considerations.
• Certificate III in Education Support

Responsibilities

• Provide Auslan interpretation and communication support to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing across classroom, school and co-curricular settings.
• Support students to access learning, participate in school life and develop independence and self-advocacy skills.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialist staff to support differentiated learning and inclusive education practices.
• Prepare, adapt and clarify learning materials to support student understanding and access to the curriculum in consultation with the teacher.
• Maintain effective communication and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student support needs and progress.
