Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education Office - Capalaba, Queensland, seeks a skilled Educational Interpreter (Auslan) to support Deaf or hard-of-hearing students. You will interpret between spoken English and Auslan and assist in creating an inclusive learning environment within St Luke's Primary School, Capalaba.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, preparation of adaptable materials, and ongoing safeguarding compliance. Fixed-term, 27.5 hours/week, starting January 2027.

Qualifications

• Auslan interpretation and communication support across classroom, school and co-curricular settings.
• Assist in preparing and clarifying learning materials with teachers.
• Support differentiated learning and inclusive education practices.
• Willing to undertake safeguarding training and any accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide Auslan interpretation across classroom, school and co-curricular settings.
• Support students to access learning and participate in school life.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to support inclusive education.
• Prepare and adapt learning materials in consultation with the teacher.
• Maintain effective communication and provide feedback on student progress.
