Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) seeks a skilled Classroom Support Officer - Educational Interpreter (Auslan) for St Luke's Primary School in Capalaba to support Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and enable access to learning. You will interpret between spoken English and Auslan, collaborate with teachers, and help create an inclusive classroom environment.

Applicants should have NAATI accreditation or be willing to obtain it, plus Certificate III in Education Support.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
• Hold a paid employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Provide Auslan interpretation and communication support to Deaf or hard-of-hearing students across classroom, school and co-curricular settings.
• Support students to access learning and participate in school life.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to support differentiated learning and inclusive education practices.
• Prepare, adapt and clarify learning materials in consultation with the teacher.
• Maintain effective communication and provide feedback to the teacher regarding student support needs and progress.
