Job summary

King & Collins, disputes and litigation lawyers in Melbourne, seeks an accounts assistant to join the admin team on a part-time basis. You will handle everyday bookkeeping, banking and invoicing, supporting the Practice Manager, principals and lawyers while contributing to efficiency and culture.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the option to work from our Melbourne CBD office or split time with remote work, and a market salary based on experience and knowledge of professional

Qualifications

  • Experience in a professional services industry as an admin or accounts person is beneficial.

  • Comfort with cloud-based practice management and basic payroll handling.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day bookkeeping.
  • Everyday banking and bank reconciliations.
  • Managing accounts payable/receivable.
  • Invoice processing in practice management software.
  • Running monthly billing and disbursements entry.
  • Debtor follow up.
  • Assist Practice Manager/lawyers with financial reports.

Job description

We are disputes and litigation lawyers. We pride ourselves on providing the best available advice, strategy and representation in our particular practice areas.

We are a firm of around 16 people with two principals. We are growing quickly but organically.

The role

We have an opportunity for a diligent and organised person to join our team as an accounts assistant. You will work in the heart of the business, as part of the admin team, providing accounts and bookkeeping support to our Practice Manager, principals and lawyers, contributing to the efficiency and culture of the firm.

The position is part-time. Depending on your preference, you can work exclusively in our beautiful office in the Melbourne CBD or in combination from both home and office.

A non-exhaustive list of elements to the role includes:

  • Day to day bookkeeping
  • Everyday banking
  • Bank account (including trust account) reconciliations
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable
  • Invoice processing in our practice management software
  • Running monthly billing process, including disbursements entry, editing and processing bills
  • Debtor follow up
  • Assisting our Practice Manager and lawyers in preparation of variety of financial reports
  • There is also an opportunity to process payroll.

We operate the firm using premium information technology via an external managed service provider. We are totally in the cloud and use a range of software applications. You will be more efficient in your work if you have the following technical skills:

  • Good knowledge of MS Office is essential
  • Good typing skills
  • Knowledge of Xero and Actionstep is a plus
  • Ability to learn new software packages
