Job summary

Lismore City Council is seeking a hands-on Parks Maintenance role to support the upkeep of parks, gardens, sports fields and streetscapes. You will work within a multiskilled team delivering mowing, pruning, planting and landscape enhancements to keep spaces safe and well presented.

Relevant White Card, C-class licence, and horticulture qualifications are required with several preferred tickets. This full-time role offers structured development, relocation support, and a nine-day fortnight in a

Qualifications

• General Construction Induction Card (White Card) is required.
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence is required.
• Certificate II in Horticulture or relevant industry qualification (desirable).
• Chemical Users Ticket (desirable).
• Chainsaw Ops L1 (desirable).
• Implement Traffic Control Plans (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Maintain parks, gardens, sports fields and open spaces to a high standard through mowing, brush cutting, pruning, planting, mulching, vegetation control and general site upkeep.
• Safely operate and maintain a range of horticultural tools, plant and equipment including mowers, tractors and implements, brush cutters, blowers, chainsaws, spray units, mini loaders and other industry equipment used in open space maintenance.
• Deliver daily maintenance tasks in line with work schedules, service standards and team priorities.
• Follow strong work health and safety practices by identifying hazards, using correct PPE and contributing to a safe working environment.
• Complete required records and documentation such as plant pre-starts, timesheets, risk assessments and incident reports.
• Assist with landscaping, park upgrades and improvement works that enhance the presentation and usability of community spaces.
• Work as part of a supportive team, communicating clearly and participating in toolbox talks and planning discussions to ensure safe and coordinated operations.
