Job summary

City of Ryde is seeking a proactive Parks Officer to manage and improve our parks, reserves and recreational spaces. You will work with contractors, project teams and stakeholders to ensure high standards and drive future improvements.

The role reports to the Senior Coordinator – Parks Operations and focuses on inspections, asset management and delivering capital works projects with a strong emphasis on customer service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in asset management, facilities, parks, open space, maintenance operations or a similar field.
  • Experience undertaking inspections, audits or condition assessments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills.
  • Experience coordinating contractors or service providers.
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
  • A current Class C Driver Licence is required.
  • Local Government experience and knowledge of parks assets are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct park inspections, audits and condition assessments.
  • Monitor contractor performance and service level agreements.
  • Investigate customer requests and stakeholder enquiries.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Council's parks and open spaces.
  • Prepare project briefs and contribute to capital works projects.

  • Support presentation, safety and functionality of parks assets.

Shape and Enhance Our Community's Parks and Open Spaces

At the City of Ryde, our parks and open spaces are at the heart of our community. We're seeking a proactive and customer-focused Parks Officer to help manage and improve our diverse portfolio of parks, reserves and recreational spaces.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, stakeholder engagement and seeing tangible outcomes from their work. Working closely with contractors, project teams and internal stakeholders, you'll play a key role in ensuring our parks are maintained to a high standard while contributing to future improvements and capital projects.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator – Parks Operations, you'll be responsible for the ongoing management, inspection and improvement of Council's parks portfolio.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in asset management, facilities, parks, open space, maintenance operations or a similar field
  • Experience undertaking inspections, audits or condition assessments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills
  • Experience coordinating contractors or service providers
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
  • A current Class C Driver Licence
  • Local Government experience
  • Horticultural qualifications or knowledge
  • Experience managing parks or open space assets
  • Exposure to infrastructure or improvement projects

Your commencing annual salary will range from $99,639.10 to $116,245.62 per annum + 12.5% superannuation. Salary offered will be dependent on skills, knowledge and experience.
