Job summary

City of Canada Bay Council in Five Dock, NSW, is seeking a hands-on Parks and Gardens Team Member to maintain public spaces and support garden construction and maintenance activities. You will operate small plant and hand tools, perform turf and weed control, and uphold safety and teamwork in a busy outdoor environment.

Holders of a current Driver’s Licence and White Card, with willingness to work across council areas, will thrive in this role.

Qualifications

• Holds a current Driver's Licence.
• Holds a current White Card (Construction Induction).
• Able to undertake manual labour outdoors and operate small plant and hand tools.
• Willing to work across Council areas and follow supervisor directions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with garden construction and maintenance, including planting, pruning, mulching, watering, fertilising and litter collection.
• Undertake turf maintenance, mowing and roadside vegetation control.
• Carry out manual and herbicide-based weed control in parks, reserves and roadsides.
• Operate and maintain small plant, gardening equipment and hand tools.
• Perform manual tasks using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Erect temporary barricades as required.
• Conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance of plant and equipment, and facility inspections as directed.

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Parks and Gardens Team Member To undertake general parks and garden maintenance duties, including operating small plant and hand tools, and working effectively as part of a team.

About the role

In this role, you will undertake a range of horticultural and maintenance activities to ensure our public spaces are safe, attractive, and well maintained. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assist with garden construction and maintenance, including planting, pruning, mulching, watering, fertilising and litter collection.
• Undertake turf maintenance, renovation, mowing and roadside vegetation control as directed.
• Carry out manual and herbicide-based weed control in parks, reserves and roadsides.

About the person

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a current Driver’s Licence and is willing and able to operate a range of plant and equipment.
• Holds a current WorkCover-accredited Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Has the ability to undertake manual labour and a willingness to work outdoors performing parks and gardens maintenance.
• Can work independently and as part of a team, follow instructions, and complete tasks within required timeframes.
• With willingness to work across different Council areas and undertake a variety of duties as directed by supervisors.
