Job description

Osborne Richardson is assisting Brimbank City Council in its search for a Parking Officer (Law Enforcement Officer) to join its Regulatory Services team on a contract basis — someone who brings a calm, customer-focused approach to parking and local law enforcement.

You’ll deliver a responsive parking and local law enforcement service across a vibrant and diverse western Melbourne municipality, combining community education with proactive enforcement of relevant legislation and Council's General Local Law 2018.

This role offers plenty of variety. Alongside parking enforcement, you’ll support litter control and fire prevention, assist with animal management and school crossings, and work with other teams to achieve shared compliance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce relevant Acts, Regulations and Council's Local Law through routine and proactive patrols
  • Provide compliance and regulatory information and education to the community
  • Identify breaches of the Local Law, notify offenders and property owners, and issue appropriate notices
  • Issue infringement and compliance notices and keep accurate records of all activities
  • Resolve enquiries and complaints using Council's customer request system
  • Audit Local Law permits to ensure compliance
  • Prepare reports and prosecution documentation, and attend court to give evidence as required
  • Undertake animal management duties and assist with school crossing supervision as required
About You
  • A Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance) or Animal Control and Regulation, and/or experience in a regulatory or law enforcement environment
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret Acts and Regulations and decide on an appropriate course of action
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to deal with difficult or irate customers
  • Knowledge of investigation procedures and the ability to gather evidence and prepare a brief of evidence
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • Competent computer skills, including handheld infringement devices (experience with Pinforce is an advantage)
  • Ability to manage your own time and workload, often within statutory time limits
  • Animal handling skills and the physical ability to catch, restrain and transport animals
  • Current Victorian driver's licence, Police Check and Working with Children Check
