Byron Shire Council is seeking a Parking Officer to patrol Mullumbimby, Byron Bay and surrounding areas, ensuring parking regulations are applied fairly and consistently. You will handle enquiries, issue infringement notices, and maintain records while spending significant time in a vehicle.
The role requires a current manual driver’s licence, strong customer service, and the ability to work a rotating roster 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
No two days are the same as a Parking Officer with Byron Shire Council. Working in a team, you'll patrol roads, parks and public spaces across the Shire, helping ensure parking arrangements are applied fairly and consistently in line with Council policies and legislation.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being out and about, solving problems, interacting with the community and staying calm under pressure. While enforcement is an important part of the role, you'll spend much of your day assisting residents and visitors, answering questions and helping people understand parking requirements. You'll also spend significant time driving between locations, so being comfortable in a vehicle for extended periods is essential.
Availability to work a rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, including weekends and public holidays, is required.
If you are passionate about this role but are not 100% sure that you meet the requirements, we still would love to hear from you and have a chat.
You will work in Mullumbimby and our Depot in Byron Bay, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
