Job summary

South32 is seeking a Paramedic Nurse for its Cannington remote FIFO site in northwest Queensland. You will provide on-site primary healthcare and emergency medical treatment where no doctor is available, with a fit-for-work nurse on site during operations.

The role requires emergency remote care, ICU/ED experience, and regulatory knowledge. Responsibilities include coordinating RFDS aeromedical retrievals, treating work and non-work injuries, and running on-site clinics with ambulance

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science (Nursing) with AHPRA registration.
• Current manual driver's licence.
• Drug and Alcohol Testing Officer, ALS and Emergency Remote Care approvals.
• Audiometry and Spirometry testing approval; Cert IV Trainer and Assessor desirable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate RFDS aeromedical retrievals.
• Assess, treat and manage work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Manage blood lead monitoring, drug and alcohol screening and vaccine programs.
• Run the on-site and village clinics and operate a 4WD ambulance.

Our Cannington operation is one of the world's largest producers of silver and lead. Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.

Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track. The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent opportunity offering a 8/6 roster, FIFO from Townsville or Brisbane.

As the Paramedic Nurse you will be responsible for delivering on-site primary healthcare and emergency medical treatment at a remote FIFO site with no doctor, medical clinic or hospital nearby, with a fit for work nurse always available onsite during operations.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

• Respond to medical emergencies and call-outs, and coordinate RFDS aeromedical retrievals
• Assess, treat and manage work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses
• Manage blood lead monitoring, drug and alcohol screening and vaccine programs
• Run the on-site and village clinics and operate a 4WD ambulance

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Emergency remote care experience, working independently in an isolated setting
• Acute care experience in an Emergency Department and / or an Intensive Care Unit
• Fitness for work assessments, health surveillance and return to work support
• Knowledge of the health regulatory framework and OSHA injury and illness recording
• Collaboration with triage doctors, allied health and emergency response teams
• Good team player with a can-do attitude

Qualifications for this position are:

• Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Science (Nursing), with current AHPRA Registered Nurse registration
• Current manual driver's licence
• Drug and Alcohol Testing Officer, Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Emergency Remote Care
