Job summary

AFCA is seeking a Paralegal to support the Privacy and Legal teams in Melbourne. This 12-month full-time contract offers exposure to privacy, regulatory and financial services law and collaboration with senior privacy professionals.

The role suits a third-year or later law student or junior lawyer who wants hands-on experience working on information requests, legal matters and investigations in a consumer-focused ombudsman environment.

Qualifications

• Third-year or later law student or junior lawyer seeking hands-on privacy/regulatory and financial services exposure.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with good judgment and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Identify, collect, review and prepare documents for privacy and information requests.
• Ensure information requests are processed in line with legal, confidentiality and privilege requirements.
• Prepare correspondence, acknowledgement letters, file notes and other legal/administrative documents.
• Support Privacy and Legal teams with matters, projects and investigations.
• Monitor developments across privacy/regulatory law and prepare practical summaries for the team.
• Maintain records and internal registers and keep matters moving to deliver timely support.
