Job summary

Carbiz is seeking an entry-level legal operations assistant in the Sydney area to support drafting, organising and finalising legal documents, and to liaise with clients, witnesses and insurers on claims. The role also assists with invoice processing and collaborates with internal teams and external partners.

You will gain hands-on experience in a legal environment, working 4–5 days per week, with guidance from qualified solicitors and opportunities for career growth within a collaborative

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in legal studies (3rd year or above preferred).
  • Capacity to work 4–5 days a week (Mon-Fri).
  • Able to work in a KPI-driven environment and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and finalise legal documents and correspondence.
  • Gather and organise evidence and other legal documents for solicitor review.
  • Arrange interviews and meetings with clients, witnesses and other parties.
  • Organise and maintain filing systems, physically and electronically.
  • Negotiate claims and settlements with insurers and third parties.
  • Communicate with insurers by phone and email to negotiate outcomes.
  • Perform ad hoc administrative tasks to support the legal team.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll support our legal operations by preparing and organising legal documents, liaising with clients, witnesses and stakeholders and ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of claims. You'll also assist with invoice processing, help negotiate favourable outcomes and collaborate closely with both internal departments and external partners. Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Draft, proofread, and finalise legal documents and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Gather and organise evidence and other pertinent legal documents for solicitor review.
  • Arrange interviews and meetings with clients, witnesses and other relevant parties.
  • Organise and maintain both physical and electronic filing systems, ensuring legal documents are easily accessible and secure.
  • Negotiate claims and settlements with various insurers and third parties to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Communicate with insurers and other key stakeholders by phone and email, including negotiating outcomes when necessary.
  • Perform ad hoc administrative tasks to assist the legal team in meeting deadlines and managing casework.
About You:
  • Currently enrolled in legal studies (3rd year or above preferred).
  • Capacity to work 4-5 days a week (Monday-Friday).
  • Confident working within a KPI-driven environment and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to take ownership of your work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to uphold and maintain professional ethics when managing cases and dealing with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to think creatively to achieve tasks and meet targets.
  • Understanding of legal principles and willingness to learn.
