Job summary

Wesley Mission Queensland Limited seeks a Community Development Worker to implement community development approaches for care at Hummingbird House and connect families with local resources.

You will identify, develop and integrate support networks for families receiving care and work with schools and communities to prioritise needs. The role is fixed-term (30 hours/week) until 30/04/2027, based in Brisbane, Australia.

Qualifications

• Ability to listen to stories and narratives of children, families and communities; identify resources and link them accordingly.
• Proficiency in development, delivery and evaluation of community-based initiatives for children, young people and families.
• Confidence in communicating personal, principled and community development frameworks of practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of evidence-based community-focused services to enhance quality of life for children and families.
• Support stronger and more resilient families and communities using ecological and community-connected approaches.
• Collaborate with local communities to create more welcoming environments for people living with serious illness.
• Establish and maintain liaison with key community groups and health providers.
• Engage with schools and communities to identify and prioritise needs.
• Support implementation of community-focused orientation across practices at Hummingbird House.
