Staples Waterproofing Co. in Peakhurst, Sydney, seeks an experienced Painter for a full-time permanent role covering residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

You will contribute to waterproofing, remedial construction, painting, and building maintenance with a focus on quality workmanship. Responsibilities include scaffolding setup, surface preparation, brushing, rolling, and spraying, plus site cleanup.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of painting experience; knowledge of techniques.
• Ability to read plans and specs; attention to detail.
• White Card (Construction Induction) and driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Erecting scaffolding and ladders.
• Using brushes, rollers and sprays.
• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper.
• Fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing surfaces.
• Selecting paints and mixing components to match colors.
• Apply final coat of paint and finishes as required.
• Clean equipment and work areas.

Task & responsibilities

• Erecting scaffolding and ladders
• Be able to use power tools
• Using brushes, rollers and sprays
• Placing drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
• Preparing surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper
• Fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces
• Selecting and preparing paints to required colors by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
• Apply final coat of paint as and where required
• Applying paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays
• Applying masking tape around the windows and glass
• Cleaning equipment and work areas

Qualification & experience

1-3 years of relevant experience as a Painter. Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and finishing methods. Ability to work from plans and specifications.

Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines. Physically fit and capable of performing manual tasks.

Strong communication and teamwork skills. Current White Card (Construction Induction Card). Current driver's license.

Desirable

Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent qualification. Experience working on waterproofing or remedial construction projects. Experience with spray painting equipment.

Other Certifications

Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license. Working at Heights certification. First Aid certification.
