Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council offers a paid 12-week internship (My Summer Workplace) for tertiary students or recent graduates in environmental operations. The program runs from November 2026 to February 2027, requiring four days per week (28 hours) with a two-week unpaid break over Christmas.

You’ll be mentored, gain practical experience, and contribute to conservation projects across koala, macropod and marine turtle programs.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a tertiary course or recently graduated.
• Available for the 12-week program from November 2026 to February 2027.
• Be eligible to work in Australia (visa/work rights) for duration of the program.
• Able to attend Assessment Centre on 29 October 2026.
• Permanent Resident or eligible visa holder with unrestricted work rights.

Responsibilities

• Assist wildlife conservation and environmental management projects.
• Support Koala, Macropod and Marine Turtle Conservation Programs.
• Contribute to Flying Fox Management Program activities.
• Undertake research, data collection and project support tasks.
• Create communication materials on wildlife conservation outcomes.
• Assist with stakeholder engagement, documentation and reporting.
