Job summary

Cummins Australia offers a 13-month undergraduate internship based at the Perth Airport office, giving hands-on experience in data, software and cloud engineering using industrial telemetry from carbon-reduction tech on mining equipment. You’ll work with engineers across software, cloud, edge and analytics.

Starting 27 January 2027, the placement develops your skills in building data platforms and tools, with exposure to Agile practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor degree in IT/CS/SE/Data Science/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Have 1–8 units left to complete by January 2027.
• Available for full 13 months and willing to defer studies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test software solutions using languages such as Python and C#.
• Work with AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform.
• Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that process and analyse vehicle telemetry.
• Analyse and validate telemetry data to identify quality issues and support engineering investigations.
• Develop internal tools, automation solutions and data visualisations.
• Write automated tests and contribute to software quality initiatives and code reviews.
• Assist with troubleshooting, monitoring and continuous improvement of edge and cloud platform components.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and engineering guides.
• Prototype innovative approaches to processing, analysing and presenting telemetry data.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers and participate in agile development and engineering activities.
