Job summary

Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) in Australia seeks Paediatric Emergency Medicine Trainees for up to 24 months in the 2027 Clinical Year, commencing 01 February 2027. Trainees will assess and manage children in ambulatory, acute care and resuscitation areas of the Emergency Department.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
• At least 3 years postgraduate with 24 months Paediatric or Emergency care experience and registered with Australasian College training program.
• Demonstrated competence in paediatric life support with APLS or equivalent within last 5 years or plan to undertake APLS.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the team.
• Clinical competency in paediatric procedures including venepuncture, IV cannulation, and resuscitation.
• Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment.
• Commitment to ongoing education and to teaching medical students and trainees.
• Proven ability to organise, plan and manage competing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment and care of infants and children presenting to Children’s Emergency Department.
• Communicate and collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary teams within and outside the hospital.
• Provide referral for appropriate continuity of care for infants and children.
• Respond to and be involved in out of department emergencies as required.
• Perform procedures under supervision appropriate for level of training.
• Build on clinical knowledge and skills in the care of infants and children presenting to Children’s Emergency Department.
• Contribute to and be involved in education, quality improvement and research activities as required.
