Job summary

American International Group (AIG) is seeking a Corporate Counsel for the Pacific region to support Australia and New Zealand. Based in Australia, you will join the Pacific Legal and Governance function and provide end-to-end regulatory and commercial legal advice.

The role reports to the Head of Legal, Pacific, and involves collaboration with global teams. It is a 12‑month fixed-term contract with potential extension, in-office work preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree in law with unrestricted Australian practicing certificate.
• Post-qualification experience in-house or private practice.
• Strong understanding of general insurance concepts and laws.
• Experience drafting insurance wordings, endorsements and schedules.
• Ability to provide practical, commercially aware legal advice.

Responsibilities

• Review policy wordings, schedules and endorsements across insurance products.
• Advise on form, broker wordings, including negotiating wordings and endorsements.
• Provide legal advice on distribution models and third‑party arrangements.
• Advise on compliance with insurance and financial services laws.
• Instruct external counsel for complex reviews as needed.
• Support APRA/ASIC matters and team-wide peak periods.
