Job summary

SSE is recruiting an experienced Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the Distribution OT team, working on ADMS+ and DERMS to deliver upgrades to key OT systems and support ED2 & ED3 plans.

Based at Perth or Portsmouth, the role offers a permanent, full-time position with Flexible First options and 50% location split. You will monitor reliability, introduce new tech, and collaborate with Control Centres to enhance systems; cyber security and out-of-hours standby may be required.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience of working with and supporting OT applications.
• Curious about understanding complex systems and how to monitor, enhance and improve them.
• Ideally you have experience in scripting, server management and databases as well as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, although training will be provided.
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team is fundamental to this role.
• Ideally you have a full, current driving licence, although this is not essential it will be required if you become part of the out of hours support rota.

Responsibilities

• Introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proofs of concepts, research industry trends and recommend strategic improvements.
• Collaborate with Distribution Control Centres to develop, enhance and simulate their control system.
• Be involved in Cyber Security of Distribution OT systems, monitoring and reviewing health and security including cyber response activities.
• Assist the OTSE team in investigating and resolving faults; may lead to 24-hour standby rota.

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations : Perth or Portsmouth

Salary: £57,150 - £68,295 and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the our Distribution OT team. Working as part of our OT Support & Engineering teams (ADMS+ & DERMS), you will be responsible for helping deliver projects, enhancements and upgrades of our key OT systems. This contributes to Distribution successfully completing their plans for the ED2 & ED3 periods.

You will also work closely across the OT Support & Engineering teams to help proactively monitor, maintain and improve the reliability of our OT systems.

You Will

• Help introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proof of concepts, research developing industry trends and recommend strategic improvements.
• Work closely with the Distribution Control Centres to help them develop, enhance and simulate their control system.
• You will be involved in the Cyber Security Distribution OT systems, by actively monitoring and reviewing the health and security of these systems. This will include participating in Cyber Response Activities (both actual and mock).
• Assisting the OTSE team in investigating and resolving faults. This may lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.

You Have
