SSE is recruiting an Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the Distribution OT team. Based in Perth or Portsmouth, you will deliver projects and upgrades to OT systems and help ensure reliability across ADMS+ and DERMS during ED2/ED3 periods.

You will introduce new technologies, work with Distribution Control Centres to develop and simulate control systems, monitor cyber security, and may join a 24-hour standby rota with the OTSE team.

Qualifications

• Experience with OT applications and monitoring.
• Keen to understand complex systems and improvements.
• Experience or training in scripting, servers or databases is a plus; training provided.
• Ability to work autonomously and in small teams.
• Full driving licence is preferred for out-of-hours support.

Salary: £57,150 - £68,295 and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Operational Technology Technical Engineer to join the our Distribution OT team. Working as part of our OT Support & Engineering teams (ADMS+ & DERMS), you will be responsible for helping deliver projects, enhancements and upgrades of our key OT systems. This contributes to Distribution successfully completing their plans for the ED2 & ED3 periods.

You will also work closely across the OT Support & Engineering teams to help proactively monitor, maintain and improve the reliability of our OT systems.

You Will

• Help introduce new technologies, deliver detailed proof of concepts, research developing industry trends and recommend strategic improvements.
• Work closely with the Distribution Control Centres to help them develop, enhance and simulate their control system.
• You will be involved in the Cyber Security Distribution OT systems, by actively monitoring and reviewing the health and security of these systems. This will include participating in Cyber Response Activities (both actual and mock).
• Assisting the OTSE team in investigating and resolving faults. This may lead to being part of a 24-hour standby rota.

You Have

• Relevant experience of working with and supporting OT applications.
• To be curious about understanding complex systems and how to monitor, enhance and improve them.
• Ideally you have experience in scripting, server management, and databases as well as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, although training will be provided.
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a small team is fundamental to this role.
• Ideally you have a full, current driving licence, although this is not essential it will be required if you become part of the out of hours support rota.
