Job summary

Caravonica State School OSHC is seeking an experienced OSHC Coordinator to lead the day‑to‑day operations of our service, acting as Nominated Supervisor and guiding a team of up to 25 educators and staff while overseeing programs for up to 150 children.

You will collaborate with families, the school community and the Caravonica State School P&C Association to ensure engaging, compliant, child‑centred care and a positive, inclusive culture across all programs.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Children's Services or approved alternative as required by legislation.
• Experience leading education and care teams and supporting professional growth.
• Knowledge of National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards and OSHC practices.
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate high‑quality programs for school‑aged children.
• Commitment to safety, wellbeing, rights and dignity of children; report concerns per procedures.

Responsibilities

Job description

Caravonica State School Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) is seeking an experienced and motivated OSHC Coordinator to lead the day-to-day operations of our service. As the service's Nominated Supervisor, you will provide leadership to a team of up to 25 educators and staff, oversee programs supporting up to 150 children, and work closely with families, the school community and the Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association to ensure the service delivers engaging, child-centred and compliant care.

Key responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day operation of the service, including the planning, implementation and evaluation of high-quality educational and recreational programs for school-aged children.

Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and professional support to educators and volunteers, fostering a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment that supports children's wellbeing, participation, learning and sense of belonging, including consistent approaches to positive behaviour guidance.

Fulfil the responsibilities of the Nominated Supervisor, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, the National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards and organisational policies and procedures.

Promote a child-safe culture and ensure effective supervision of children, with appropriate responses to incidents, complaints, risks and child protection concerns.

Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, the P&C Association and external stakeholders.

Oversee staff recruitment, induction, professional development, workforce planning and rostering to support effective service delivery.

Manage the administrative and operational requirements of the service, including records, financial administration, resource management, Vacation Care programs and continuous quality improvement.

About you

Diploma in Children's Services, or other approved qualification as required under applicable education and care legislation.

Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card).

Demonstrated experience leading education and care teams and supporting the professional growth of educators.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate high-quality educational and developmental programs for school-aged children.

Demonstrated commitment to children's safety, wellbeing, rights and dignity, including recognising, responding to and reporting concerns in accordance with legislation and service procedures.

Demonstrated understanding of safe supervision, inclusive practice and positive behaviour guidance.

Demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards, relevant legislation and contemporary OSHC practice.

Well-developed leadership, communication, organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with children, families, school staff and external stakeholders.

Experience in OSHC, school-aged care or educational settings, particularly in supporting children with diverse needs, promoting inclusive and positive behaviour practices, and applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive and child-safe approaches.
