Job summary

RJK Optometry in Coffs Harbour, NSW is seeking an Optical Assistant / Optical Dispenser to support patients from first contact through to selecting, fitting and collecting eyewear.

You may be an experienced Optical Dispenser or bring strong customer service skills from another industry and pursue a career in optics. Training toward a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing may be provided.

RJK Optometry is looking for someone who communicates confidently, notices the details, and enjoys helping people make informed decisions. You may already be an experienced Optical Dispenser, or you may be bringing strong customer service skills from another industry and be ready to build a career in optics.

The Role

You’ll support patients throughout their experience with the practice, from their first interaction through to selecting, fitting, and collecting their eyewear.

Your day may include:

• Welcoming patients and coordinating appointments
• Helping patients select frames suited to their needs, style and lifestyle
• Explaining lens options and recommendations clearly
• Supporting optical dispensing, adjustments and repairs
• Processing orders and completing practice administration
• Working alongside Optometrists and qualified Optical Dispensers

The responsibilities can be shaped around your experience. An experienced dispenser will be able to use their technical knowledge from the outset, while someone new to optics will receive practical training and may be supported toward a Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing.
