Job summary

Nexus Hospitals is hiring an Ophthalmology Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse for our Bundaberg private day hospital on a full-time or part-time basis. You will lead perioperative care, ensuring safe, high-quality surgical experiences and strong patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Perioperative Ophthalmology Scrub/ Scout in a surgical hospital setting
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with patients, doctors, staff and other stakeholders
• Solid time management, organisational and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based care: Monitor patient wellbeing and administer safe, high-quality treatment tailored to each stage of their hospital stay
• Prepare for safe surgery: Ensure the facility, equipment and clinical environment are ready to support safe, efficient surgical care
• Prioritise and monitor patient safety: Maintain clear team communication, assess patient progress, respond promptly to changes or complications, and keep patient safety central to all decisions
• Support recovery at home: Provide clear education, guidance and reassurance so patients feel confident managing their recovery after discharge
• Guide and support colleagues: Supervise and support Enrolled Nurses on shift, fostering confidence, teamwork and safe practice
• Champion improvement: Promote continuous improvement, safety and excellence across all areas of the hospital
