Job summary
Health and Aged Care Professionals in Melbourne is seeking an experienced Senior Scrub Practitioner / Registered Nurse to join the foundation team of a new ophthalmic hospital. This role remains clinically hands-on while contributing to leadership, mentoring and quality improvement in theatre practice.
You will work part-time, collaborating with senior clinical leadership to support high-level clinical and technical care within the operating theatre and across the ophthalmic surgical journey.
Qualifications
- Have current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated perioperative nursing experience across theatre settings.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention.
- Experience in Scrub/Scout nursing and assisting in anaesthetic or recovery phases.
- Proven leadership ability and capability to coach junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Act as an experienced scrub practitioner within theatre.
- Anticipate surgical requirements and ensure instruments/equipment are ready.
- Support surgeons and the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain high standards of asepsis and infection control.
- Support efficient theatre flow and patient safety.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of clinical care.
- Lead theatre audits and drive quality improvement activities.
- Mentor and develop scrub nurses and new team members.
- Provide coaching and competency development within the team.
