Job summary

Sims Limited in Australia is seeking an Operator 2 to perform a broad range of production and operational duties across our recycling facilities. The role emphasises safe operation of forklifts, excavators and other equipment, and efficient grading and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

You will be responsible for quality control, accurate documentation, and providing excellent service while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a zero-harm workplace.

Qualifications

• Ability to identify Occupational Health and Safety and environmental hazards.
• Follow workplace instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.
• Identify and implement actions to achieve workplace targets and efficiencies.
• Hold relevant licences to enable duties.

The Operator 2 role carries out a broad range of production and operational duties requiring skills and competence beyond that of an Operator 1. This includes the safe and efficient operation of equipment such as forklifts, excavators, and other mobile and static machinery, as well as grading, inspecting, and processing ferrous and non-ferrous materials. There is a high focus on customer service and attention to detail when grading and purchasing material.

• Able to take responsibility for the quality of their own work and take actions specified within
• procedures, the scope of their job and authority level to ensure that quality standards are met,
• Able to identify Occupational Health and Safety and environmental hazards, and assess risk,
• as well as follow instructions and procedures in the workplace with minimal supervision. An
• employee at this level is also capable of participating in and contributing to OHS management
• issues,
• Able to identify and implement actions to achieve workplace targets, maximise efficiencies
• and suggest improvements either individually or as part of a team,
• Able to complete workplace documentation and clearly and concisely provide relevant
• information to others,
• Identify and participate in various improvement strategies,
• Perform basic inspection of loads and/or stock to identify quantity and/or quality of stock,
• Completes general housekeeping duties, as well as the cleaning of plant and equipment,
• Receives, processes and/or despatches products/materials and maintains relevant records,
• Exercises discretion within his/her level of skills and training,
• Holds relevant licences to enable appropriate completion of duties.
