Job summary

Sims Limited is seeking an experienced Operator to join the Milperra recycling operations team. You will operate forklifts and other mobile plant, assist in loading/unloading, and help sort and process recyclable materials at a busy site.

The role offers a permanent day shift (6:00am–2:00pm) with flexibility for varying finish times to meet operations. A supportive team environment and ongoing training support a long-term career in environmental resource recovery.

Qualifications

• Current Forklift Licence and practical operating experience.
• Experience operating heavy mobile plant/equipment.
• Strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, excavators and other mobile plant safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers and skip bins.
• Sort, grade and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Assist with receival, processing and dispatch of recyclable materials.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and operational procedures.
• Identify and report hazards and unsafe conditions.
• Support general yard operations and site activities as required.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to drivers, suppliers and customers.

Operator

We are looking for an experienced Operator to join our Milperra recycling operations team. Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of our busy site, operating a range of mobile equipment including forklifts, excavators, and other plant while helping to process and recycle valuable materials.

This is a permanent day shift position, generally working 6:00am to 2:00pm, with flexibility required as finish times may vary to meet operational needs.

What you’ll be doing:

• Operating forklifts, excavators and other mobile plant safely and efficiently.
• Loading and unloading trucks, trailers and skip bins.
• Sorting, grading and processing ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Assisting with the receival, processing and dispatch of recyclable materials.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work environment.

What you’ll bring:

• Current Forklift Licence and practical operating experience.
• Previous experience operating heavy mobile plant and equipment.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• A reliable, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Team-focused approach with a willingness to help wherever needed.
• Knowledge of metal grading and recycling processes (desirable but not essential).
