Job summary

Ringway in Launceston requires a maintenance operative to carry out a wide range of routine and cyclical works with a Chargehand. You will respond to emergencies and call outs, including out-of-hours, and assist with winter maintenance as a second man or driver's mate. Apprentices who have completed training are included.

The role supports a team on highways contracts with varied hours and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

• General maintenance and operation duties in highways works.
• Understand risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Able to work to a specification and within a team.
• Typically 12 months+ experience; LGV licence interest.

Summary

Includes apprentices who have fully completed training

Specialist Skills

• To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
• To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
• To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
• Generally hold 12 months+ experience
• Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
• Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
• Ability to use small plant and equipment
• Ability to operate mini excavator

• Prepared to work varying hours to meet the needs of the business
• Willingness to apply skills to a variety of different highways jobs, with changing team members
