Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
About The Role

Reporting directly to the Deputy Operations Manager, we are looking for an energetic and hands‑on Operations Supervisor to lead our Operations team based at our Canberra station.

In this critical frontline supervisory role, you will be responsible for daily fleet execution, driving operational excellence, and leading a diverse workforce spanning direct employees and contracted couriers. We need a natural people leader who excels in high‑volume, dynamic logistics environments, embraces continuous change, and takes pride in coaching and mentoring their team every day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Actively engage, mentor, and coach frontline couriers and support staff to elevate individual capabilities and overall team performance.
  • Safety & Daily Briefings: Lead daily Safety & Toolbox Talks with couriers and drivers, embedding a proactive safety culture and ensuring strict adherence to Chain of Responsibility (CoR) standards.
  • Daily Fleet & Operations Supervision: Supervise daily fleet runs, dispatch, and turnaround times, proactively resolving operational bottlenecks and identifying process improvements.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Oversee vendor, contractor, and agency labour performance, ensuring adherence to SLAs, delivery deadlines, and compliance standards.
  • Change Management & Agility: Thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑change environment, guiding the team smoothly through operational adjustments and evolving business demands.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with the Deputy Operations Manager, dock/warehouse operations, and customer service teams to align daily workflows with strategic priorities.
  • Reporting & Performance Insights: Generate daily operational reports, tracking key KPIs and presenting performance wins and improvement opportunities to management.
What We Are Looking For
  • Proven People Leadership (Essential): Prior experience managing, supervising, and developing frontline teams - with a strong ability to engage, motivate, and build accountability.
  • Industry Experience (Highly Advantageous): Background in transport, courier/express freight, logistics, or fleet operations.
  • Safety Champion: Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with practical experience delivering regular safety and toolbox briefings.
  • Resilience in Dynamic Environments: Proven ability to manage competing priorities, problem‑solve on the fly, and adapt to ongoing operational change.
  • Workforce Oversight: Experience supervising mixed workforce models (direct staff, agency temporary labour, and third‑party contractors).
  • Planning & Systems Savvy: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and logistics/transport management systems (TMS).
  • Clear Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with couriers, vendors, and senior leadership alike.
