Job summary

Engineering People Pty is seeking an Operations Manager in Clayton, Victoria, to lead the strategic direction of the Operations and Service teams. You will drive operational efficiency, oversee performance and align with business objectives while collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Projects and Commercial teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.

You will report to the Managing Director and support budgeting, forecasting revenue and expenditure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of proven experience in an operations management position.
• 5+ years experience in Senior Service Operation function.
• Experience delivering projects of varying scope and complexity.
• Technical background with understanding of engineering principles.
• Electrical Engineering background would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Maintain strategy, operating plans and objectives.
• Monitor and report on KPI’s across the Operations and Service functions, striving for continuous improvement.
• Mentor and guide team leads, fostering a proactive, engaged and high performing environment.
• Conduct performance and remuneration reviews for direct reports and support team leads in their review processes.
• Represent the Operations and Service team in leadership discussions and strategic planning initiatives.
• Ensure service delivery meets customer expectations.
• Make sure deadlines are met along with contractual KPI’s.
• Coordinate with customers to design and deliver solutions.
• Manage and optimise facility operations, supplier relationships and certain aspects of projects.
• Monitor service metrics and approve pricing decisions in alignment with the companies commercial strategy.
• Managing staffing and Labour for operational and project needs.
• Look after WH&S policies and ensuring compliance from all employees and visitors.

Our client is a global technology and engineering business specialising in machine vision, automation and intelligent inspection solutions .

The business develops and delivers advanced technology used across industries. With a strong international presence and a technically driven team, the Australian operation supports customers across the region through project delivery, technical service and ongoing customer support.

They are now looking for an experienced Operations Manager to come in to take control of the strategic leadership and overall management of the Operations and Service departments.

About the Role

As the Operations Manager , you will be responsible for strategic leadership across the Operations and Service team. You will drive operational efficiency and oversee departmental performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives are met.

You will report to the managing director who is warm and approachable. Lead cross functional collaboration with Sales, Engineering, Projects and Commercial teams to deliver integrated customer solutions. Support the Finance Team with departmental budgets, forecasting revenue and expenditure.

About You

We're looking for someone who has proven leadership and team management across diverse operational functions.

You will have:

Experience

• At least 3 years of proven experience in an operations management position.
• At least 5 years experience of relevant experience in a Senior Service Operation function.
• Experience in delivering projects of varying scope and complexity.
• A technical background and a good understanding of engineering principles.
• An Electrical Engineering background would be beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Business, project Management or Technical Field
• Electrical Engineering Qualification.

• Australian Citizen
• Ability to work flexible hours (as required)
• Travel as dictated by operational and customer requirements.
• Possess a valid Australian drivers license
• A national police check to be undertaken.
