Qualifications

  • Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a registered nurse or allied health professional.
  • Postgraduate management qualification, preferably at Master degree level.
  • Clinical and management experience within a health service.
  • Ability to manage and lead people.
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with others and deliver organisational outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture and ongoing learning.

About the role:

The Division of Aged, General Medicine & Subacute Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated senior leader to join the team as an Operations Manager.

Reporting to the Divisional Director, this role has operational oversight of several wards including Acute Aged Care, Geriatric Evaluation Medicine (GEM) and the Dementia Support Unit to facilitate the delivery of Best Care. This role is responsible for effective and efficient leadership, operational, financial and clinical governance for the areas within the portfolio. This will be achieved through effective leadership, efficient management and visible role modelling.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational management of acute aged care and subacute services, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient‑centred care across multiple inpatient programs and sites
  • Drive service performance through effective leadership, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and achievement of key service and organisational KPIs
  • Partner with clinical and operational leaders to develop and implement strategic service plans, support service growth, and deliver organisational priorities
  • Provide leadership and support to Nurse Unit Managers and senior clinicians, fostering workforce capability, performance, succession planning, and employee engagement
  • Oversee financial performance and sustainability by managing budgets, monitoring activity and workforce utilisation, and implementing strategies to address operational and financial variances

About you:

  • Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a registered nurse or allied health professional
  • Relevant postgraduate management qualification, preferably at Master degree level
  • Clinical and management experience within a health service
  • Ability to manage and lead people
  • Ability to consult and collaborate with others and work as an effective member of the team to deliver organisational outcomes
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
