Job summary

Helia, Australia’s first Lenders Mortgage Insurance provider, is seeking an Operations Data Analyst in Sydney. You will analyse operational data, build dashboards and provide insights to improve efficiency and decision-making for internal teams and customers.

You will work with multiple data sources, engage with stakeholders, and communicate actionable insights. A commercial mindset and familiarity with financial data are advantageous in this role.

Qualifications

• Strong data analysis experience with operational data
• Ability to source and cleanse data from multiple sources
• Excellent communication of insights to stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience in an operational environment
• Understanding of LMI or financial data is a plus

The Operations Data Analyst is a part of the centralised analytics team responsible for key reports and analytics for the Operations and Sales & Partnership teams. Team members are ‘specialist generalists’ i.e. each person brings their key domain knowledge but are also eager to work on other roles to ensure the team meets its outcomes across the Finance, Risk, Strategy, Operations and the Sales and Partnerships areas.

The Operations Data Analyst is responsible for analysing operational data and providing insights to improve efficiency, productivity and decision-making for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

• Sourcing, cleansing, analysing & communicating data sets related to various aspects of Helia’s operations. This could include application metrics, sales data, customer feedback, third party data etc.
• Monitoring key operational performance data, including developing dashboards and reports to help visualise this data for stakeholders
• Identifying trends, patterns and anomalies in data and investigating root causes, including sourcing additional data to understand why certain outcomes are occurring
• Summarising analysis into key insights that can be shared with stakeholders and customers, leveraging data visualisation techniques
• Attending customer and stakeholder meetings to support the business owner presenting and discussing insights
• Responding to adhoc queries from stakeholders and customers relating to operational data

Commercially astute and proactive, you’ll draw on multiple data sources to form objective, well-informed insights that support decision-making across teams and enhance the customer experience. You’ll also demonstrate the following attributes:

• A curious mind, with data exploration at the forefront
• Analytical skills including demonstrated experience of working with data to provide actionable insights
• Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to source relevant data
• Extensive experience with querying languages – preferably snowflake SQL
• Experience with PowerBI for effective data visualisation
• Ability to communicate insights to different levels of management
• Commercial acumen and market awareness
• Attention to detail and results orientated
• Demonstrated experience in an operational environment
• Experience working with customers to understand needs rather than wants
• Financial background or LMI experience/knowledge desirable
