Job summary

Children’s Ground is seeking an Operations Coordinator to oversee WHS, emergency management, fleet coordination and facilities, supporting staff and programs in challenging outdoor conditions.

The role requires strong organizational skills, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on participation in camps and community events, with responsibilities spanning asset management, site maintenance and coordination with First Nations communities.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet management
  • Coordinate rosters for bus drivers and the scheduling of vehicles for staff pick-up, drop-off
  • Monitor fleet performance
  • Coordinate fleet repairs and insurance claims
  • WHS: conduct regular workplace safety audits and risk assessments
  • Emergency Management Plans - coordinate emergency drills and training, maintain emergency and CCTV equipment
  • Site management: identify and prioritise repair and maintenance needs
  • Maintain a schedule for site and grounds maintenance that may include landscaping, waste removal, fencing etc.
  • Supervise contracts or inhouse staff involved in site maintenance
  • Asset Management: maintain a detailed inventory of organisational assets relating to buildings, fittings, furnishings and grounds
  • Camps/Events/Family Nights/Funder Visits - contribute to the planning, logistics and coordination of bush camps, events Children’s Ground host, regular on country family nights and funder visits
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Physically participate in camps
  • Support local community agency and respect for local cultural knowledge and life - liaise and develop relationships with local First Nations communities that we work with
  • Contribute and comply with operational systems, standards, policies and procedures
  • Contribute and comply with data systems, monitoring and reporting: ensure data is being entered into approved Children’s Ground systems

About the role

Reporting to the Community, Programs & Operations Lead, the Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of operational activities within Children’s Ground – Central Australia. This role encompasses oversight and management of key operational areas, including workplace health and safety (WHS), emergency management, fleet coordination, and facilities maintenance and management. The Operations Coordinator acts as the central point of contact for operational support, driving compliance with organisational policies and regulatory requirements while optimising processes for effectiveness and sustainability.

Additionally, the Operations Coordinator provides logistical and administrative support for staff and organisational initiatives, including but not limited to daily vehicle allocations, pick up and drop off rosters, and WHS including safety checks and hazard reduction.

This position demands a high degree of organisation, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement to maintain operational safety and excellence that supports the organisation’s mission and goals. The role will require working regularly in outdoor conditions, in Alice Springs heat, carrying objects up to 15kg in outdoor settings.

What we offer

Salary Classification: Children’s Ground EBA Level 5.1 $106,892 + 12% superannuation + bonus leave

Salary Sacrifice options to increase take home pay (dependant on individual circumstances)
