Job summary

Metcash is seeking an experienced Operations/Compliance Coordinator to lead fleet operations, safety, and compliance across the site. This standalone role offers autonomy, accountability on floor leadership, and a focus on maintaining safety standards at all times.

You will oversee vehicle registrations, inspections, contractor engagement, and maintenance coordination, while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A proactive, process-driven approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Operations/Compliance roles with a strong health and safety focus.
• Solid knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance and audit processes.
• Experience managing fleets, maintenance schedules and contractors.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Safety-focused and process-driven approach to work.
• Ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across the site.
• Ensure vehicle registrations, inspections and compliance requirements are met.
• Manage vehicle fleet and coordinate maintenance activities (preventive & reactive).
• Oversee contractor engagement and site maintenance requirements.
• Conduct and enforce pre-start checks and safety procedures.
• Lead audits, compliance activities and corrective actions.
• Monitor operational performance and identify improvements.
• Delegate tasks while maintaining accountability across operations.
• Maintain records and complete administrative requirements for fleet/site operations.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Operations/ Compliance Coordinator to lead a critical function within our business. This is a standalone role with significant autonomy and responsibility, overseeing fleet operations, health & safety, compliance, maintenance coordination, and site operational activities. This position is ideal for a proven operational leader who enjoys being visible on the floor, leading by example, driving accountability, and ensuring safety and compliance standards are maintained at all times.

In this Role

• Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across the site.

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience in an Operations, Operations Coordinator Health and Safety, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, compliance, and audit processes.
• Experience managing fleets, maintenance schedules, and contractors.
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Safety-focused and process-driven.
• Ability to prioritise competing demands and deliver outcomes.
