Job summary

ASLA in Brisbane is seeking an Operations Controller to manage day-to-day aircraft scheduling, crew assignments and operational efficiency. This central role coordinates with multiple stakeholders to keep flights on time and compliant.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Day of Operations aircraft scheduling and fleet assignments.
• Handle ad hoc operations and irregular operations.
• Rostered crew management in line with Fatigue Management System.
• Control crew and duty limitations per Fatigue Management System.
• Communicate roster changes to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
• Serve as primary contact for the company and third-party entities, including government agencies.
• Maintain situational awareness of operations and brief other departments as needed.
• Provide Flight Planning services and prepare Operational Flight Plans (OFPs).
• File Air Traffic Services (ATS) plans and manage NOTAMs and meteorological data.
• Support dispatch decisions for EDOT and other planned flights.
• Assist ERP activation when required.
• Contribute to Safety Management System and promote safety culture.

The Operations Controller is a key role responsible for managing day-to-day aircraft scheduling, crew assignments, and ensuring operational efficiency. This role acts as a central point of contact for various stakeholders.

Tasks & responsibilities

Manage the ‘Day of Operations’ aircraft scheduling and fleet assignments

Manage the addition and removal of ad hoc operations, including irregular operations

Manage rostered crew on the ‘Day of Operations’ in accordance with company and regulatory requirements and the Fatigue Management System

Control crew and duty limitations in accordance with the Fatigue Management System

Communicating changes affecting rostered crew in a timely fashion in accordance with company policy

Serve as the primary contact for the company and all third-party entities, including government agencies that impact on the ‘Day of Operations’

Maintaining situational awareness of the company’s operation and appraising other company departments of matters as they arise

Liaising with both the Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Watch and Flight Operations departments to ensure the timely exchange of relevant operational information

Providing Flight Planning services for Company operations, or any contracted third parties, including preparing Operational Flight Plans (OFPs)

Filing of Air Traffic Services (ATS) plans and managing these plans

Obtaining, collating and evaluating Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs), meteorological, and other operational information in support of both flight planning activities and operational supervision and decision-making responsibilities

Evaluate navigational, meteorological, aircraft performance, and flight planning related operational factors specifically associated with the dispatch and continuation of Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTO) flights, and other planned flights

Ensure timely transmission of advice regarding significant non-normal variances of these factors to the Operations Control Centre Manager

Provide pre-flight briefings for all planned flights and briefing updates to the Flight Crew of all Company flights (upon request), to supplement the standard briefing documentation routinely provided to crew

Assisting flight planning database maintenance to ensure integrity of flight planning output, when requested

Providing Flight Following information service to on the following flights:

All international flights

Flights operating to isolated aerodromes including Christmas Island, Cocos Island and Norfolk Island

EDTO flights, and any other flights as deemed necessary by the Director of Flight Operations

Initiating and participating in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) when required

Contribute to the Company Safety Management system via active reporting and promotion of the safety culture principles as detailed in the Company Safety Management System

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in aviation operations or a related field

Familiarity with aviation regulations and compliance, including those issued by aviation authorities such as CASA, or

A Flight Crew Licence (CPL) with proficiency in Flight Planning, including the preparation of Operational Flight Plans (OFPs), filing of Air Traffic Services (ATS) plans, and evaluation of NOTAMs and meteorological information.
