Responsibilities

• Reconcile position, cash, and trade activity prior to Market open.

• Validate prices for EOD close and liaise with brokers to resolve discrepancies.
• Support system improvements and onboarding of new relationships.

Operations Associate - Equity Derivatives focus

Our clientare a globaltrading business that focus on the trading primarily of futures, equity options and equity derivatives.This position ofOperations Associatewill sit within their operations team, and reports to the Operations Manager.

They are an employer of choice in Sydney and are known for a great work life balance, and a great relaxed work environment. This position would suit an operations professional who has previous experience with a hedge fund, fund manager or global investment bank or broker, seeking a more balanced work environment.

The ideal applicant would have previous experience for a few years within equity derivatives operations, asset management operations or futures & options settlement/support and ideally have some daily PnL experience. Knowledge of SQL, VBA and Python would be highly regarded

As an Operations Associate you will be responsible for responsible for trade capture and position reconciliations, ensuring trades are captured in an efficient and timely manner and positions are accurate and reconciled to external brokers. The Position also provides profit and loss estimates for the day’s activity.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Reconciliation of position, cash, and trade activity prior to Market open.
• Ability to reconcile front office estimates to prime broker reporting.
• Analysing Accruals including Capital & Interest charges, expenses, and commissions
• Price Validation of Trader EOD close prices.
• Liaise with external parties to resolve any position/cash discrepancies.
• Contribute to system improvement to help streamline daily processes.
• Support the business in its growth and expansion into new products and Markets.
• Working with legal and compliance for onboarding new relationships
• Support desk to effectively manage their Margin obligations.
• Maintaining and managing operational processes as per regulatory framework to ensure exchange compliance.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• 4 + years of experience, working in a similar role within the financial markets
• A person who excels in a fast-moving environment, self-starter, and resourceful in solving problems
• Operational knowledge of financial markets
• Have an in-depth knowledge of handling trade flow through to settlement.
• Knowledge of Equity Derivatives and Equities. Commodity knowledge a bonus.
• Knowledge/Experience of Asian Markets a preference
• Ability to build strong and positive relationships both internally and with Broker contacts.
• Strive for efficiencies and to challenge the status quo to drive changes.
• Ability to prioritise based on materiality and risk considerations.
• Analytical mindset when tackling issues.
• Knowledge of SQL, VBA and Python would be highly regarded
