Job summary

MACA is seeking an Operational Technology Technician to join our mining business on a permanent, full-time basis, working an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth to Beebyn W11.

The Beebyn-W11 iron ore mine is located 20km from the Iron Ridge operation in the Mid-West region and is expected to produce 1.5 Mtpa.

Responsibilities include installing and maintaining GPS guidance, fleet management, IVMS, CAS, autonomy, payload management, and robust communications infrastructure while ensuring uptime and safety.

Qualifications

• Trade or technical qualification with mechanical or electrical background.
• Field-based mining communications experience desirable.
• Ability to apply current technology trends and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Support, install and maintain site-based technology systems (GPS, FMS, IVMS, CAS).
• Manage and maintain communications infrastructure (LTE, radios).
• Deliver technical support: troubleshoot, upgrade software and configure hardware.
• Develop SOPs, risk assessments, and training materials.
• Monitor system performance to drive uptime and value.

The Beebyn-W11 iron ore mine, owned by Fenix Resources, is located 20km from the Iron Ridge operation in the Mid-West region and is expected to produce 1.5 Mtpa.

Responsibilities will include:

• Support, install and maintain site-based technology systems including but not limited to GPS guidance (HPGPS), fleet management (FMS), in vehicle monitoring (IVMS), collision avoidance (CAS), autonomy, payload management systems and more
• Manage and maintain communications infrastructure (solar trailers, 2 way radio systems, LTE, point-to-point links and more).
• Deliver technical support: troubleshoot, update software, configure hardware, and lead upgrades.
• Maintain secure networks aligned with MACA cyber security protocols.
• Coordinate subcontractors during deployments and system upgrades.
• Develop SOPs, risk assessments, schematics, inventory plans, and training material.
• Monitor technology system performance to drive uptime, innovation, and value.

We are looking for:

• Trade or technical qualification with mechanical or electrical background desired. Relevant experience will also be accepted in lieu of qualifications.
• Field-based mining communications experience (highly desirable)
• Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge and theory across current industry technology trends.
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• High attention to safety, quality and systems thinking
• Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
