Job summary

Mackay Base Hospital is seeking an Operational Officer (Cleaning) to deliver a 24/7 cleaning and support service across the hospital.

You will be responsible for cleaning, waste removal, transport of patients, equipment, linen and materials, and will provide support to Team Leader, Supervisors and the Operational Services Manager.

This permanent, full‑time position supports the Mackay Hospital and Health Service in delivering patient‑centred care across the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions.

• Provide 24/7 cleaning and support services across the hospital precinct.
• Handle waste removal, transportation of patients, equipment, linen and materials.
• Work with Team Leader, Supervisors and the Operational Services Manager to maintain service standards.

The Operational Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for an Operational Officer (Cleaning) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

This position will be responsible for providing a 24 hour/7-day week support service for multi-disciplinary staff and patient care including cleaning, removal of waste, transportation of patients, equipment, linen and materials around the hospital. This position will also be required to work with and provide support and advice to Team Leader, Supervisors and/or Manager of Operational Services.

About the Team

Operational Services provides and co-ordinates a diverse range of services that support the clinical divisions in the delivery of patient centred health care at Mackay Base Hospital. The department consists of the following keys areas:

• Cleaning Services;
• Wardsperson Services;
• Grounds and Gardens; and
• Patient Equipment Loan Store (PELS).
