Job summary

Joblin Partners is partnering with an established Australian gold producer operating a long-life open-pit in Queensland. This Mine Geologist role focuses on providing accurate geological support across active operations and collaborating with senior geology personnel, mining crews and the technical services team to optimise grade control, ore definition and production outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Geology or equivalent tertiary qualification.
Approximately 2-5+ years experience in open-pit mining.
Previous gold experience is highly regarded.
Strong understanding of grade control and production geology.
Practical pit mapping and geological interpretation capability.
Experience with RC and/or grade control drilling programs.
Exposure to geological modelling and mine geology software.
Datamine experience would be advantageous.
Experience with geological database systems is highly regarded.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with mining, planning and technical teams.
Current manual driver licence.
A practical, proactive and safety-focused approach.

Responsibilities

Conduct pit mapping, geological logging and interpretation across active mining areas.
Support grade control drilling, sampling and ore delineation programs.
Deliver daily ore mark-ups, dig block instructions and in-pit geological guidance.
Work closely with mining operations to minimise ore loss and dilution.
Maintain accurate geological data, database records and reconciliation information.
Support geological modelling and interpretation using site software systems.
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly geology reporting.
Collaborate with mine planning, metallurgy and production teams to support ore blending and mine-to-mill performance.
Monitor geological and structural conditions impacting mining.
Contribute to ongoing improvement across grade control systems, data management and operational efficiency.
