Job summary

Norton Gold Fields Pty Ltd is seeking a Pit Technician to join the Open Pit Geology team in Binduli, Kalgoorlie/Boulder. The role requires field safety focus, sampling oversight, and collaboration with geologists and surveyors to maintain accurate drill and sample records.

The position offers a residential roster with stability for remote site work and benefits, including health cover and allowances. Applicants should have at least 2 years in a similar role and a valid WA manual driving licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Forklift Licence desirable.
• 4WD competency and experience working in remote locations desirable.
• Current unrestricted “C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct risks assessments for field tasks at team and individual level.
• Complete regular safety inspections of grade control drill rigs and ancillary equipment.
• Assist Geologists & Surveyors in ore mark ups, geological mapping, and sampling to ensure no unplanned standby of mining equipment.
• Ensure samples meet GC QC sampling standards before removal of samples from the drill site.
• Report any non-compliance in sampling or drilling technique to driller and Senior Geologist.
• Maintain electronic records of all sample submissions and drilling by the Open Pit Geology team.
• Record data for stockpile sampling and show assayed grades.

RESIDENTIAL: Kalgoorlie/Boulder

DUTIES

• Conduct risks assessments for field tasks at a team and individual level.
• Complete regular safety inspections of grade control drill rigs and ancillary equipment.
• Assist Geologists & Surveyors in completing ore mark ups, geological mapping, clast hole sampling ensuring no unplanned standby of mining equipment due to ore not being marked up.
• Ensure samples meet the GC QC sampling standards before removal of samples from the drill site.
• Reporting any non-compliance in sampling or drilling technique immediately to the driller and Senior Geologist.
• Maintain electronic records of all sample submissions and drilling completed by the Open Pit Geology team, ensure paper copies and files are accessible.
• Regular stockpile sampling, ensuring data is recorded showing assayed grades.

Skills And Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role (Preferable)
• Forklift Licence (Desirable)
• 4WD competent and experience working in remote locations (Desirable).
• Knowledge (or formal training) of geological sampling theory (Desirable).
• Experience in conducting geological / geochemical sampling programs (Desirable).
• Current unrestricted “C” Class WA Manual Drivers Licence (Essential)
