Job summary

Norton Gold Fields Limited in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA, is seeking a Pit Technician to conduct field risk assessments and safety inspections, support geology teams, and manage drill sample QC. You will maintain records, perform stockpile sampling, and help ensure timely, accurate ore marking and sampling programs.

Applicants should have 2+ years in a similar role, remote-location experience, and relevant licences/training. Residential role on a 8:6 roster with benefits listed in the advert.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Forklift Licence (Desirable).
• 4WD competency and experience working in remote locations (Desirable).
• Knowledge (or formal training) of geological sampling theory (Desirable).
• Experience in conducting geological/geochemical sampling programs (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct risks assessments for field tasks at a team and individual level.
• Complete regular safety inspections of grade control drill rigs and ancillary equipment.
• Assist Geologists & Surveyors in ore mark ups, geological mapping and sampling to ensure no unplanned standby of mining equipment.
• Ensure samples meet GC QC sampling standards before removal from drill site.
• Report non-compliance in sampling/drilling technique to the driller and Senior Geologist.
• Maintain electronic records of all sample submissions and drilling by Open Pit Geology; ensure paper copies are accessible.
• Regular stockpile sampling with data showing assayed grades.

DUTIES

• Conduct risks assessments for field tasks at a team and individual level.
• Complete regular safety inspections of grade control drill rigs and ancillary equipment.
• Assist Geologists & Surveyors in completing ore mark ups, geological mapping, clast hole sampling ensuring no unplanned standby of mining equipment due to ore not being marked up.
• Ensure samples meet the GC QC sampling standards before removal of samples from the drill site.
• Reporting any non-compliance in sampling or drilling technique immediately to the driller and Senior Geologist.
• Maintain electronic records of all sample submissions and drilling completed by the Open Pit Geology team, ensure paper copies and files are accessible.
• Regular stockpile sampling, ensuring data is recorded showing assayed grades.
