Job summary

Darlo Play Centre in Sydney, NSW, seeks an experienced Centre Director to lead day-to-day OSHC operations, uphold NQF compliance and drive safe, play-based learning aligned with My Time, Our Place.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets with the Management Committee, report on quality and regulatory matters, and foster a collaborative culture with families and the community.

Qualifications

• 5+ years leadership experience in OSHC or similar children's service.
• Strong knowledge of NQF, NQS and My Time, Our Place.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work with a parent-led Committee.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong educational and operational leadership to the OSHC team.
• Lead development, implementation and improvement of the QIP.
• Ensure high standards against NQS and legislation.
• Foster inclusive culture among staff, children, families and Committee.
• Ensure compliance with National Law, Working with Children Check, WHS.
• Maintain records, policies and procedures.
• Prepare and present reports to the Management Committee.
• Recruit, induct, supervise and performance-manage educators and staff.
• Oversee planning and evaluation of a high-quality, play-based program aligned with My Time, Our Place.
• Manage day-to-day budget with Committee Treasurer.

Job description

The Centre Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the OSHC service. Reporting directly to the parent-led Management Committee, the Director ensures the service meets all regulatory requirements under the National Quality Framework (NQF), delivers excellent educational and care outcomes, and operates in a financially sustainable and child-centred manner.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strong educational and operational leadership to the OSHC team
• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
• Ensure the service maintains high standards against the National Quality Standard (NQS) and all relevant legislation
• Foster a positive, inclusive and collaborative culture among staff, children, families and the Committee
• Ensure full compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, Working with Children Check requirements, and all workplace health and safety obligations
• Maintain accurate records, policies and procedures in line with regulatory and Committee requirements
• Prepare and present regular operational, quality and compliance reports to the parent-led Management Committee
• Recruit, induct, supervise, support and performance-manage educators and staff
• Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of a high-quality, play-based educational program aligned with My Time, Our Place
• Manage the day-to-day budget in collaboration with the Committee Treasurer

About you

• Ideally 5+ years experience at OSHC
• Current Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership or management role within OSHC, education or a related children's service
• Thorough knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standard and My Time, Our Place Framework
• Strong understanding of child safeguarding, risk management and Workplace Health & Safety
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a parent-led Committee and respond to community needs
• Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma management qualifications (or willingness to obtain)
