Job summary

Dematic in Australia is seeking an experienced Project Safety Officer for a 12-month fixed-term contract on a major automated warehousing project in Deer Park, Melbourne. You will drive WHSE excellence across a complex, multi-contractor environment and support the delivery of cutting-edge automation technology.

You’ll be hands-on in the field, conducting inspections and investigations, leading inductions and audits, and partnering with Project Managers, site supervisors and contractors to keep

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, WHS, OHS or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' site-based safety experience.
• Experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, commercial projects or related environments.
• Exposure to large-scale projects with multiple contractors.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Provide WHSE advisory support across all project activities.
• Champion a proactive safety culture on site.
• Conduct site inspections, safety observations, audits and risk assessments.
• Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks and pre-start meetings.
• Review SWMS, procedures and permits; investigate incidents.
• Assist in implementing and improving the Site Safety Management Plan.
• Maintain hazard and risk registers and safety reporting.
• Coordinate onboarding of subcontractors and liaise with stakeholders on WHSE matters.
