GenesisCare Kingswood is seeking a Casual Registered Nurse in our Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology team. Join a compassionate multidisciplinary team delivering exceptional patient care with Monday to Friday clinic hours and no night shifts or weekends.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of one year of Medical Oncology nursing experience.
• Experience in Haematology, Day Oncology, Infusion Services or Radiation Oncology is highly regarded.
• Chemotherapy administration accreditation is desirable.
• Experience in central venous access device management and wound care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients and families.
• Excellent clinical assessment, problem solving, and decision making skills.
• A collaborative approach and commitment to patient-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality nursing care to patients in medical and radiation oncology.
• Support patients with education, information and emotional support.
• Administer systemic therapies and medications per protocols.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and side effects.
• Deliver hands-on clinical care including venous access, wound and skin care, and assessments.
• Monitor wellbeing and respond to changing clinical needs.
• Coordinate appointments and daily clinical activities for a positive patient experience.
• Work with oncologists, therapists, allied health and patient services teams.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation for continuity of care.
• Use ISBAR for structured communication and team safety.
• Contribute to quality improvement and NSQHS standards.

More specifically, you will:

• Provide high quality nursing care to patients receiving medical oncology and radiation oncology treatments
• Support patients throughout their treatment journey with compassionate care, education, and emotional support
• Administer systemic therapies and medications in accordance with clinical protocols and medication safety principles
• Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, symptom management, potential side effects, and supportive care strategies
• Deliver hands on clinical care, including central venous access device management, wound care, skin management, and clinical assessments
• Monitor patient wellbeing and respond appropriately to changing clinical needs
• Coordinate appointments and daily clinical activities to help ensure a positive and seamless patient experience
• Work closely with Medical Oncologists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Allied Health professionals, and Patient Services teams
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation to support continuity of care
• Utilise structured communication tools such as ISBAR to promote safe and effective teamwork
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with NSQHS standards and best practice guidelines

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• A minimum of one year of Medical Oncology nursing experience (essential)
• Experience in Haematology, Day Oncology, Infusion Services, Radiation Oncology, or related specialties is highly regarded
• Chemotherapy administration accreditation is desirable
• Experience in central venous access device management and wound care
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with patients and their families
• Excellent clinical assessment, problem solving, and decision making skills
