Job summary

Journey Beyond is seeking a hands-on Cook for the Spirit of Migloo, our 78ft luxury cruiser, operating from Darling Harbour. You’ll craft high-quality dishes for lunch, dinner and private charters, working under the Chef with end-to-end kitchen operations in a fast-paced marine environment.

You’ll be preparing meals, assisting with baking and pastry, and ensuring safety, cleanliness and allergen labeling across rosters that may include weekends and public holidays, with shifts up to 12 hours

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar kitchen role.
• Basic cooking skills and understanding of common culinary techniques.
• Safe Food Handling Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a positive team member.
• High standards of personal grooming and presentation.
• Current working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook ingredients to recipe, delivering high-quality food on time and to a consistent standard.
• Support food presentation, baking and pastry preparation under supervision.
• Work with the kitchen brigade to set up and close down stations and keep service running smoothly.
• Identify and communicate allergens and dietary requirements, with clear labelling and careful food handling.
• Store food correctly, rotate stock and maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
• Complete cleaning and dishwashing duties when required.
• Follow marine emergency procedures, operational work instructions, HR requirements and WHS policies.
• Report hazards or incidents promptly and embrace new tasks or kitchen sections as operational needs change.
